The Indian-registered bus plunged into the river, some 110 kilometres from its destination in Nepal's capital Kathmandu.
A bus carrying 40 passengers plunged into Nepal's Marsyangdi River in Tanahun district on Friday (Aug 23), killing 14 Indians and injuring 17 others who were onboard the bus.

The bus was travelling to Kathmandu from Pokhara, according to a local official.

"The bus bearing number plate UP (Uttar Pradesh) FT 7623 plunged into the river and is lying on the bank of the river," a senior police official told the news agency ANI.

Rescue operations are underway at the incident site, with a team of 45 police officers under the command of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Madhav Paudel of the Armed Police Force Nepal Disaster Management Training School.
Earlier last month, at least five Indians were killed after a devastating landslide in Nepal's Chitwan district swept away two buses into the Trishuli River. The landslide occurred on July 12 in the Simaltal area along the Narayanghat-Mugling road in the Chitwan district.
The two buses carrying 65 passengers, including seven Indians, were swept away amid heavy rainfall in the region.
Meanwhile, three people swam and saved themselves after the incident. The bodies of five Indian nationals have been recovered so far while two are still reportedly missing.

To date, 25 bodies have been found in the Narayani riverbanks and the Triveni Dam area, approximately 103 kilometres downstream from the incident site.
Although, only 19 bodies out of those 25, have been confirmed to be of those missing in the incident.
